Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have confirmed the pair are back home in the United States after first revealing they had contracted coronavirus and were quarantined in Australia several weeks ago.
Hanks gave an update on Twitter on Saturday morning, thanking everyone who had helped them in Australia. In addition they confirmed they are still self isolating, “sheltering in place and social distancing” themselves in the United States. Hanks also wanted to thank those “who reached out with well wishes. Rita and I so appreciate it.”
Hanks had been filming Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic in Australia when the couple received their diagnosis. Production on the film was shut down after the news of his positive diagnosis.
Hanks and Wilson were the first celebrities to reveal that they had contracted coronavirus which has since hit numerous famous names from Idris Elba to Prince Charles.
