“Hamilton” Tops Most Watched Streaming Films

Analytics company ScreenEngine/ASI has surveyed 1,200 U.S. video viewers weekly on which titles they watched in the seven days following their release. The results, as reported by Variety, have shown an estimate of the top thirty most-watched streaming movie launches of the year so far.

Intriguingly Netflix didn’t make the Top 3, its highest being the Chris Hemsworth-led “Extraction” coming in fourth, though it did dominate the overall list with thirteen of the thirty titles from the service.

The highest of the year so far was the Disney+ release of the “Hamilton” concert film in July. Amazon’s recent launch of the comedy sequel “Borat 2: Subsequent MovieFilm” and the Dave Bautista-led former studio release “My Spy” took second and third.

The Disney+ “Mulan” release in sixth is particularly impressive considering it costs an additional $30 to access. Here’s the full list:

Several major releases are yet to come for the year, most notably Netflix’s “Mank” and Amazon’s “Coming 2 America” which are both expected to draw large numbers.
