Thomas Haden Church (“Easy A,” “Spider-Man 3”) has joined the black comedy “Killer Joe” for Voltage Pictures says Variety.
The story centres on a drug-dealing brother (Emile Hirsch) and sister who plot the death of their mother for the insurance money and hire “Killer Joe” Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a cop and contract killer, to do the deed.
Church’s role is presently unspecified. William Friedkin (“The Exorcist,” “The French Connection”) is directing from a script by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning writer Tracy Letts.
Scott Einbinder and Nicolas Chartier will produce. Filming kicks off next month in New Orleans.
