“Spider-Man 3,” “Divorce” and “Sideways” star Thomas Haden Church will join Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz in the half-hour action comedy TV series adaptation of the “Twisted Metal” Playstation video game series at Peacock.
Mackie plays a motor-mouthed outsider who must successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a trigger-happy car thief (Beatriz), he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road.
Church will play Agent Stone, a cold and unyielding post-apocalyptic highway patrolman who rules the roads with a silver tongue and a twisted iron fist.
Prosecuting even the smallest crimes with the harshest of judgements, he will stop at nothing to bring law and order back to the Divided States of America – killing those in his path who defy his power.
“Deadpool” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick came up with the original take while Michael Jonathan Smith will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Mackie, Reese, Wernick, Will Arnett, Marc Forman and Kitao Sakurai also executive produce with the latter directing multiple episodes.
Sony Pictures Television, Playstation Productions, and Universal Television are backing the project.
