The remake of iconic Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliott-led 1989 cult classic “Road House” is officialy a go at MGM’s new owners Amazon.

First revealed late last year, actor Jake Gyllenhaal will lead the cast while Doug Liman (“Edge of Tomorrow,” “The Bourne Identity”) will direct from a script by “The Nice Guys” writer Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.

The updated story shifts the action from Missouri to the Florida Keys as Gyllenhaal’s UFC fighter takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadside bar. He soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.

Multiple cast members have been announced including Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp and Bob Menery.

Joel Silver is producing and shooting is set to begin in the Dominican Republic later this month with the film to get an eventual streaming release on Amazon Prime Video.
