Guy Pearce In Talks To Play Rupert Murdoch

Oscar nominee Guy Pearce is in talks to play media mogul and NewsCorp founder Rupert Murdoch in filmmaker Danny Boyle’s new film “Ink” at Studiocanal.

Jack O’Connell is also in negotiations to play Larry Lamb, the man who Murdoch hired to run The Sun when he purchased it in 1969.

Based on the James Graham play, the story follows Murdoch’s struggling newspaper, The Sun, as he intends to make it a must-read news source and hires Lamb to run the paper.

Murdoch’s acquisition of the paper would start a long-standing rivalry between The Sun and The Mirror, leading to the rise of the modern British tabloids.

Graham adapted the script from his own play, with Boyle set to direct and produce alongside Tessa Ross, Tracey Seaward and Michael Ellenberg.

Studiocanal is fully financing the film, which will begin filming in October.
