The casting for James Gunn’s “Superman: Legacy” film has been an interesting mix thus far.
On the one hand, you had a long drawn-out process of auditions and rumors before David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were locked in as the new Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane a while back.
Shortly after came a bunch of announcements for people in supporting roles including Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
However other key roles for the title remain unannounced including Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor.
That’s partly due to the actor’s strike as no casting deals can be done officially until it’s over – hopefully later this month. In a recent post on Threads, Gunn confirmed once those strikes are over – expect to hear a lot more.
Asked by a fan: “Do you have your finger on the trigger waiting to announce more Legacy castings as soon as the strike ends?” To which Gunn replied with a “Yeah” and several clasped hands in affirmation.
Filming on “Superman: Legacy” is expected to get underway very early next year in Atlanta ahead of a July 11th 2025 release.
