DC Studios chief James Gunn has indicated that his overall plan for the DC Universe still remains a mystery to most people.
When asked by a fan if he’s worried people have already figured out what he has planned, he responded on Twitter saying: “I don’t think anyone has come close to figuring out my main DC plan.”
Gunn announced ten film & TV projects for ‘Chapter One: Gods and Monsters,’ the first of a two-phase plan for a DC cinematic universe. Even then, there are said to be several more unannounced projects in the works just for Chapter One on its own.
The move aims to give DC something akin to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – even as fans love to play up the competition. Gunn recently spoke with Rolling Stone and has no time for your tribalism, saying Marvel Studios’ ongoing success is only a good thing for DC:
“To be frank, I think the better Marvel movies do, it’s better for DC, and the better DC movies do, it’s better for Marvel. When people see bad movies, they don’t want to spend more money on seeing more movies. So you want good movies to happen, especially since we’re making two or three movies a year at DC.
So every movie that Marvel has is sort of an advertising for comic-book films, and vice versa. And you don’t want to scare off people from going to the theater. And if we’re both making good movies, that’s the best of all situations, which keeps the ball bouncing back and forth. At that point, we can talk about rivalries, and it’d be fun.”
Gunn also recently shot down rumors of a Harley Quinn-centered prequel series being in the works, saying there’s no truth to that talk or of Aaron Paul being cast as Booster Gold.
