Gunn Debunks Clooney Batman Rumor

Warner Bros. Pictures

The last few days have seen some rumors spring up regarding “The Flash” film. They suggested the film will undergo one last reshoot, this one involving the inclusion of a new end credits sequence.

The reports suggested a previous end credit sequence with Ben Affleck’s version of Batman was being scrapped, and instead, an old classic Batman would appear that was not Michael Keaton (who is already part of the main story of the film).

That meant it was either Val Kilmer, George Clooney or Christian Bale with Clooney emerging as the most likely suspect. It was added the hiring could potentially stick around as the new permanent #DCU Batman and be a part of the previously announced “Batman Brave & The Bold” project with an older Batman and a young Damian Wayne.

The talk generated enough reaction that DC Studios co-chief James Gunn has now responded via Twitter. First up he straight out denied casting George Clooney as the new main DCU Batman, saying “absolutely not”.

He then was asked if “we’re still getting an actor who has already Batman or a new actor all together?” to which he responded “new actor”.

Whilst that debunks a familiar Batman in the future DCU films rumors, the tweets carefully do not shoot down the possibility of Clooney or a familiar Batman showing up in “The Flash”.

Certainly, rumors about “The Flash” have flown thick and fast with reports of cameos from Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman being cut. Others indicate a new test screening for the new film will take place again this week but without any end credits sequence attached.

We’ll know for sure when “The Flash” opens in cinemas on June 16th.
