Filmmakers like David Cronenberg, George Miller, Baz Luhrmann, James Gray, Park Chan-wook, Claire Denis, Kore-eda Hirokazu, Ethan Coen, Joseph Kosinski, Kelly Reichardt and Ruben Ostlund among others are all set to have their new films debut as part of a stacked 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
Forty-seven films have been announced as part of the initial lineup with more to be added at a later date. Oscar-winner Michel Hazanavicius’s Chechnya-set zombie comedy “Z (Comme Z” will open the festival, whilst Olivier Assayas will premiere the first look at his HBO series reimagining of “Irma Vep”. “Squid Game” leading man Lee Jung-jae is also popping up with his directorial debut “Hunt”.
Traditionally the festival’s jury president and members are announced before the selection, but that’s not happening this year with the reveal to take place at a later date. The festival itself will run from May 17th-28th, here’s the official list:
