Rockstar Games’ owner Take-Two has indicated in a press release to investors to expect a major jump in sales during its next fiscal year (April 2024-March 2025) which will be driven by the release of “several groundbreaking titles”.
For its current fiscal year ending March 31st 2024, the company is said to be expecting ‘net bookings’ around $5.5 billion – up from $5.3 billion last year. However its projecting over $8 billion for the next fiscal year – which runs from April 2024 to March 2025.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick calls it a “highly anticipated year for our company” following several years of work and preparation for an “incredibly robust pipeline of projects” along with the launch of “several groundbreaking titles” that “we believe will set new standards in our industry”.
This has immediately led to speculation that “Grand Theft Auto VI” will launch within that window. Asked by GamesIndustry.biz specifically if that target could be reached without the release of “Grand Theft Auto 6,” Zelnick says:
“We’re not talking about specific titles. We believe it’s highly achievable. As you know, it’s exceedingly rare that we talk about out years. And when we do, it’s because we have a high degree of confidence. It’s a reflection of a pipeline we’ve been investing in for years.”
Take-Two also revealed on Wednesday that “Grand Theft Auto V” had shipped 180 million units as of March this year, whilst “Red Dead Redemption” had shipped 53 million units as of March.
