Leslie Grace (“In the Heights”), Haley Lu Richardson (“Five Feet Apart”), Isabela Merced (“Dora and the Lost City of Gold”) and Zoey Deutch (“Zombieland: Double Tap”) have been revealed as contenders for the title role in the new “Batgirl” film in the works at HBO Max.
Testing for the role starts this week and it’s possible the search will expand beyond these names. “Bad Boys for Life” helmers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct the feature based on a script by Christina Hodson.
The story will center on Barbara Gordon, Commissioner James Gordon’s daughter who becomes the Gotham City crime-fighting Batgirl. The project will mark the first DC film adaptation to directly premiere on HBO Max.
