Warner Bros. Montreal’s upcoming “Gotham Knights” game will reportedly boast the largest ‘Gotham City’ to ever be put into a video game.

The title’s executive producer Fleur Marty and game director Geoff Ellenor recently spoke with Game Informer about the story-based action/RPG title which begins with Batman’s death.

As criminals try to take advantage of Batman’s absence, his understudies – Batgirl, Red Hood, Robin, and Nightwing – are trying to keep order even as the mysterious Court of Owls stretches forth their grasp.

Talking about the scale of the game and how it compares to the four “Batman: Arkham” games, Fleur says:

“For sure it’s the biggest version of Gotham that has been represented in video games. The most important thing for us is its density and verticality. It has a lot of layers. The Batcycle is the long-range mode of transportation.”

Though the inclusion of four characters suggests its at least partly designed exclusively for cooperative play, Geoff confirms it works perfectly fine in single-player mode:

“You can absolutely play it all in single player. We don’t have anything that requires you have a friend be present to go into a mission.”

Fleur then adds: “At the same time, you can play everything in co-op.” The pair also revealed that each of the four characters boasts eleven different suit styles along with customization within each involving different pieces and colors.

“Gotham Knights” is scheduled to be released on October 25th.
