Gosling, Evans Lead Russos’ “Gray Man”

Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans are set to star in action thriller “The Gray Man,” the first project Joe and Anthony Russo will direct following Marvel Studios juggernaut “Avengers: Endgame”.

The Russos’ AGBO label will produce the film which is based on the 2009 Mark Greaney novel that introduced the Gray Man, a freelance assassin and former CIA operative named Court Gentry. Gentry (Gosling) is hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans), a former cohort of Gentry’s at the CIA.

The project will be Netflix’s biggest budget film to date, the aim to create a new franchise with a James Bond-level of scale and a budget upwards of $200 million. Joe Russo penned the script while Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely polished it.

Mike Larocca, Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum will also produce and filming aims to begin in January in Los Angeles with international locations being finalized. The project may sound familiar as it was developed a few years ago as a potential Brad Pitt and James Gray vehicle.
