Netflix has handed out a ten-episode series order for “Good Times,” an animated revival of the Norman Lear 1970s sitcom of the same name being produced by Sony Pictures Television.
The animated series will follow the Evans family in the present day as they navigate today’s world and contemporary social issues. As the original did, the new show will strive to remind viewers that with the love of family, we can keep our heads above water.
Carl Jones (“The Boondocks,” “Black Dynamite”) created the show and will serve as showrunner. Lear’s Act III Productions, Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions and NBA star Steph Curry’s Unanimous Media are also producing.
The project will be the first animated show Lear has produced in his storied career.
