“Good Omens” Eyeing Season 3 Renewal

Amazon

A third season renewal order for Neil Gaiman’s fantasy series “Good Omens” is looking good to go at Amazon and the BBC according to Deadline.

The trade indicates options on the series’ main cast, led by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, have been picked up in anticipation of the order.

One key absence however will be Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director and co-showrunner on the first two seasons. He revealed in a reply on Instagram that he is “not involved with this show anymore”.

Series creator Gaiman was asked on Bluesky about Mackinnon’s status with the show to which he responded: “Douglas has moved on to other projects.”

Gaiman previously teased back in August that a third season had been “planned and plotted” and he would’ve been writing it then if it weren’t for the (now over) writer’s strike. He has also indicated the season will draw from his and Terry Pratchett’s unfinished sequel to their book and will be a definitive ‘final’ season.

The second season of the series was released in August with Prime Video, saying it was the streamer’s top comedy on the platform worldwide following its debut.
