“Good Joe Bell” Gets Recut & Re-Dated

Stepping out of action thrillers, Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg recently filmed the true story tale “Good Joe Bell” about a man who walked across the country to crusade against bullying after it claimed the life of his gay son.

Playing the Fall film festival circuit, the movie had hoped to be an awards contender but scored mixed reviews for its clumsy handling of a delicate issue – the praise it did get mostly centered on Wahlberg’s young co-star Reid Miller.

Solstice Studios, who acquired the film for $20 million out of Toronto, has reportedly re-edited the film and retitled it to just “Joe Bell” with plans to open it in cinemas on February 19th next year.

Mark Gill, president of Solstice Studios, says the film “has now reached its full potential” after their revision and have hired Diane Warren to write a new original end title song.

Connie Britton and Gary Sinise co-star in the movie which hails from “Brokeback Mountain” scribes Diana Ossana and Larry McMurtry and is directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. Cary Fukunaga produces.
