“Gollum” Developer Apologises For Game

Daedalic Entertainment

Daedalic Entertainment, the developer of the just released “The Lord of the Rings: Gollum” game, has offered “sincere apologies” for delivering what it describes as an “underwhelming experience”.

Following multiple delays, co-publishers Nacon and Daedalic finally released the game this week to consoles and PC where it was met with overwhelmingly negative reviews – the lowest rated game of the year on major aggregation sites Metacritic and OpenCritic.

The complaints go beyond the kind of technical faults that have plagued various game releases of late, targeting issues with gameplay, graphics, story and more.

In a social media posting on Twitter, Daedalic responded to the negative release reception saying they would like to “sincerely apologize for the underwhelming experience” many had with the game upon its release and they “deeply regret” that the game did not meet expectations.

They go on to say they value feedback coming in and have been actively read comments and constructive criticism provided. As a result, the development team has been “working diligently to address the bugs and technical issues” and will prove patches that aim to “allow you to enjoy the game to its fullest potential”.

This follows in the wake of similar social media postings apologising and promising patches regarding titles that launched with issues including “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor,” “Redfall,” “Forspoken,” “The Last of Us Part I,” “Battlefield 2042,” “Babylon’s Fall,” “Cyberpunk 2077,” and “Halo Infinite”.
