Tony Goldwyn (“Scandal,” “Ghost”) will replace Liev Schreiber in the Will Smith-led “King Richard” at Warner Bros. Pictures which is set to return to production in Los Angeles next week.
Reinaldo Marcus Green helms the project about the iron-willed father of Venus and Serena Williams (Smith) who had a plan to make his daughters the greatest tennis players in the world.
Goldwyn will play the role of Paul Cohen, a noted tennis coach whose clients included John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, and the Williams sisters.
Aunjanue Ellis, Jon Bernthal, Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton co-star in the film which had shot three weeks worth of work when the COVID-19 shut it down back in March. “King Richard” has a current theatrical release date of November 19th 2021.
