Microsoft has officially confirmed that an HD remaster of that most iconic of 1990s video games – “GoldenEye 007” – is coming to both Nintendo Switch and Xbox Game Pass.
Developer Rare says in a statement: “25 years after its original release, experience GoldenEye 007 faithfully recreated for Xbox consoles. Includes achievements, 4K resolution and a smoother framerate – even in split-screen local multiplayer!”.
The remaster was first spotted earlier this year by eagle-eyed fans noting some developers had played a few rounds with their stats recorded on tracking sites.
It’s not clear if the Switch version of the game will include improvements beyond online multiplayer, but it will be one of nine new titles coming in the next year to the Switch Online service. Others include “Pilotwings 64,” “Excitebike 64,” “Mario Party” 1-3, “Pokemon Stadium” 1-2 and “1080 Snowboarding”.
