An untitled sequel to Legendary’s “Godzilla vs. Kong” has set a filming start window for later this year.

Set to once again be shot around the Gold Coast region of Queensland, Australia where both “Kong: Skull Island” and “Godzilla vs. Kong” were filmed, the news was confirmed by state Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

Along with shooting taking place in 2022, the production will bring around $60 million U.S. dollars into the economy – more than double that of the previous film, along with creating over five hundred jobs for local cast and crew.

Details of the sequel, which will mark the fifth film in Legendary and Warners’ Monsterverse franchise, are under wraps but will follow in the wake of the $468 million global gross of “Godzilla vs. Kong” which was one of the biggest hits of 2021.

Disney is currently filming its Jules Verne-inspired “Nautilus” series on the Gold Coast for the Disney+ streaming service. Shazad Latif stars as Captain Nemo.
