They’re the two biggest exclusives of the rival game consoles over the next 8-9 months, and now two new featurettes have been released offering more details on the highly anticipated “God of War Ragnarök” for PlayStation and “Starfield” for Xbox.
First up, a behind-the-scenes featurette with the team at Santa Monica Studio goes into the story of “God of War Ragnarök” and confirms the new title will mark the end of the ‘Norse saga’ that began with 2018’s revival.
The story sees Kratos and Atreus confronting the coming tides of war, and those seeking revenge such as Thor and Freya. The clip also goes into how the pandemic had an impact on production and what challenges the team faced to tell its epic story.
“God of War Ragnarök” will be released exclusively on the PS4 & PS5 on November 9th.
Meanwhile Bethesda has released a new development video for the highly anticipated “Starfield” with game director Todd Howard answering questions from the game community.
Inspired by classic RPGs such as “Traveller” and “Sundog,” Bethesda stops short of calling it hard sci-fi, saying it has made some concessions in regards to scientific accuracies – such as with the way game handles fuel and the gravity drive of the ships.
Howard also said players will be able to remove negative character traits by completing quests, and has returned to “classic Bethesda style” dialogue and includes over 250,000 lines of dialogue compared to approximately 60,000 in “Skyrim” and 110,000 for “Fallout 4”.
“Starfield,” which is said to contain a 30-40 hour main story campaign, will arrive in the first half of next year.
