The just released “God of War Ragnarök” clocks in as the longest entry in the series with the main story alone taking around 23 hours to beat whilst completionists could play just over double that.
It’s higher than its 2018 predecessor at 20.5 hours, of the prior “God of War” games which clock in at 8-12 hours each. With the game now out though, don’t expect any major downloadable content (DLC) or ‘Game of the Year’ editions.
Game Director Eric Williams tells the Kinda Funny Games spoiler cast that whilst they’re not ruling out the idea of an expansion, players should not get their hopes up: “I don’t know, man. That game is big. I think we put everything we had into it, so I wouldn’t count on it.”
A photo mode and a new game plus mode could still come to the game in the coming weeks and months, like what happened with 2018’s “God of War” (which also didn’t get DLC).
PlayStation exclusives generally avoid DLC, though the handful of exceptions like “The Last of Us: Left Behind,” “Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut” and “Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps” are considered some of the best DLC of any game out there.
