Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” has drawn rave reviews on the festival circuit so far and this weekend premiered at the London Film Festival.

One thing revealed from this recent screening is that the film offers a brief glimpse into Benoit Blanc’s home life – a man who gets depressed and directionless without an interesting case to work on and to deal with it he spends time soaking in the bath.

He’s also in a relationship with a male partner (one of the film’s surprise cameos) who refers to him as ‘Blanc’ and is accustomed to his behavior. The pair are together for only a single scene early on in the 139-minute movie, but it has got people talking.

Speaking at a press conference after the screening, Johnson confirms Blanc is gay: “Yes, he obviously is” and of the actor who portrays his lover, Johnson says: “There’s nobody in the world I can imagine in bringing me more joy for Benoit Blanc to be with.” Craig adds: “No spoilers [but] who wouldn’t want to live with that person?”

It’s expected that whoever it is will potentially be back, and in a bigger capacity, for the third film.

Meanwhile, Johnson also discussed the performance of the late Angela Lansbury and Stephen Sondheim in the movie: “They were so kind and so generous. We thought, my God, would either of them ever do it? We didn’t think they would. And both of them were so cool.” Craig adds: “The fact that she’s in our movie, we were so blessed, and what an incredible life she had.”

“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” will have a one-week theatrical run in several countries November 23rd-29th before making its way to Netflix on December 23rd.
