“Glass Onion” Box-Office Numbers Look Good

Netflix

Whilst Netflix has indicated it won’t be reporting the box-office numbers for its one-week theatrical release of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” exhibitors have been tallying the sales and the numbers aren’t too shabby.

Released on just shy of 640 screens, the film pulled in an estimated $1.88 million on Thursday and is tracking for $12.8 million for the five-day holiday weekend along with a third place debut behind only “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and “Strange World”.

Though that’s considerably behind the $41.7 million five-day opening of the first film, that was a wide theatrical release on around 3,400 screens and sold as such as compared to the “Glass Onion” theatrical marketing which has been minimal.

In addition, with the film coming to Netflix in just a few weeks, it’s expected plenty will simply wait until it hits the streamer. “Glass Onion” is sailing on great reviews with the film’s Rotten Tomatoes critics and audience scores sitting at 93% and 94% respectively.
