“Suits” and “Firefly” star Gina Torres has scored one of the lead roles in the female-led vampire soap opera pilot “The Brides” on ABC.
A contemporary reimagining of “Dracula,” this focuses on a trio of female leads who were his brides. The series now follows these immortal women and the things they do to maintain their wealth, prestige, legacy, and nontraditional family.
Torres will star as Cleo, the leader of the trio. An imperious former queen turned by Dracula after the death of her husband. Now a New York City real estate maven, she is challenged professionally by a mysterious newcomer – even as her ties to her sisters are dangerously fraying.
“RIverdale” and “Sabrina” producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is set to write and executive produce alongside Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
