Six weeks after former “The Mandalorian” actress Gina Carano saw her discrimination lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm settled in her favor, the “Haywire” actress is making a comeback in her first TV series.
The Las Vegas-raised Carano will return home for the show “Logan Reign” which is being developed by Straightwire Entertainment Group – a production company run by her former MMA manager Rob Weston.
“Get Out” and “BlacKKKlansman” producer Shaun Redick and actress/producer Yvette Yates Redick’s Impossible Dream Entertainment label is set to produce the project.
Carano plays the character, a Vegas legal assistant in her day job and a crime fighter by night in what’s dubbed a “bold, adrenaline-driven” series. No word as yet on who is distributing the series.
She says in a statement to the trade: “Logan Reign is someone I have been craving to bring to life. I’m bringing every ounce of who I am as an actress and what I have learned in this industry to this role and at this moment I have a lot to give.”
Details of her settlement last month remain confidential, but Disney said at the time they “look forward to identifying opportunities to work together with Ms. Carano in the near future” which suggests she could appear back at the Mouse House on some other project sometime in the future.
