Gilroy On “Rogue One” Cameos In “Andor” S2

“Ahsoka” is readying for an August debut, “Skeleton Crew” is done and ready for release later this year, and “The Acolyte” reportedly recently wrapped filming – meaning plenty of “Star Wars” TV series are on the way to keep everyone occupied for the next year.

However, one production still in the works is “Andor,” which began shooting its second season in November and was originally slated to keep filming through August. Gilroy has since stepped away and last month reportedly hasn’t visited the show’s set since the strike began.

Considered the best live-action “Star Wars” series of the recent era by critics, the series is designed from the get-go as a two-season and done tale – meaning the second season of twelve episodes will be the last.

Teasing what’s to come in a recent EW interview (via The Direct), showrunner Tony Gilroy confirms more “Rogue One” characters are about to start popping up in the narrative along with events fans of the lore will be familiar with:

“Of course. Yeah, I mean, yes. The answer is yes. There are some that are inevitable. There are some that are surprising. There are some that we probably can’t get for various reasons… But, you kinda know who’s in the stew there. You certainly know who’s gonna be on Yavin 4.[Cassian] and Mon Mothma have a scene together in ‘Rogue [One].’ So yeah… And the calendar’s inevitable, in some ways, for the people in this convention, for the people who really know these five years, there are some big events on the calendar that we have to pay attention to. And we will.”

Of those confirmed to show up, Alan Tudyk’s droid K-2SO and Saw Gerrera’s offsider Moroff are both expected to show up, but Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso won’t be, according to the actress herself.

For now, the second season of “Andor” is still on track for a late 2024 premiere.
