Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino, whose musical score for Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” has been universally praised by even the most ardent detractors of the film itself, is trying out the director’s chair.

Giacchino will reportedly make his feature directorial debut on Marvel Studios’ as yet-untitled Halloween special for the Disney+ service according to DanielRPK (via The Wrap).

Gael García Bernal leads the cast of the werewolf-focused show which is rumored to be inspired by the comic title “Werewolf by Night”.

Production on the Halloween special is set to begin later this month. Giacchino previously directed an animated entry in the “Star Trek: Short Treks” collection for Patamount+ but this will mark his feature debut.

As a composer, Giacchino has worked on some of the biggest films of the past twenty years from the recent “Spider-Man,” “Star Trek” and “Jurassic World” trilogies to “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” “The Incredibles,” “Doctor Strange,” “Rogue One,” “Up,” “Coco,” “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” “John Carter,” “Cloverfield,” “Speedracer,” “Ratatouille,” “Inside Out,” “Zootopia,” “Jojo Rabbit,” and shows like “Alias,” “Lost,” and “Fringe”.
