Sony Pictures has pushed back the release of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” by a week to an opening on November 19th.
The shift took place mere minutes after Paramount Pictures announced the delay of the Tom Cruise tentpole “Top Gun: Maverick” from that November slot into early Summer 2022.
Sony has postponed “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” itself several times amid the COVID-19 crisis but remained determined to keep it a big screen only release even as its other films like “Vivo,” “Cinderella” and “Hotel Transylvania: Transformania” have been moved to streamers.
Jason Reitman directs the film which picks up thirty years later and centers on a family that moves to a small town where they discover their connection to the iconic ghost-catching business.
