Sony PlayStation has announced that Sucker Punch’s recently released “Ghost of Tsushima” has become the PlayStation 4’s fastest selling first-party original IP debut.
The title sold through more than 2.4 million units globally in its first three days of sales. That’s not all though as in Japan the title has passed “Death Stranding” to score the best launch week sales of any first-party PlayStation 4 game in Japan to date with 221,915 copies sold with potential stock shortages.
It is also the sixth fastest selling PS4 exclusive behind only “The Last of Us Part II (4M), “Final Fantasy VII: Remake” (3.5M), “Marvel’s Spider-Man” (3.3M), “God of War” (3.1M) and “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” (2.7M).
Reviews remain highly positive for the title – it marks only the third Western-developed game to receive a perfect 40/40 score from Japan’s Famitsu magazine (GTA5 & Skyrim being the other two). On Metacritic, the game not only scored an 83/100 with critics, it pulled in a pretty astonishing 9.3/10 after votes from over 10,000 users.
