George Miller’s “Longing” Involves A Genie?

It took many years for George Miller to assemble and deliver “Mad Max: Fury Road,” but many agree it was worth the wait with the gonzo film cited as one of the best of the century to date.

Miller has taken his time with a follow-up and while he may set back out into the wasteland soon, we do know he’s going for a smaller and very different affair with his next film “Three Thousand Years of Longing” which stars Tilda Swinton and Idris Elba.

Plot details for the film have been under tight wraps, though The Illuminerdi has posted a report today which includes what is apparently the first synopsis for the film. Seems the movie follows a lonely British woman who has decided to break out of her routine and go on a vacation to Istanbul.

Whilst there, she accidentally finds a bottle that contains a wish-granting Djinn who has been trapped for three millennia inside. He gives her the chance to change her life with three wishes.

Miller is set to write and direct the film which he has dubbed the “anti-Mad Max” and says it doesn’t really have a set genre even as it has previously been described as a love story. No other actors have been attached to the production as of yet. Shooting was to begin in May, but plans will likely shift due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking of a Miller project, filmmaker Ryan Unicomb has posted a photo today on his social media channels showing off a lot at one of several cowls that actor Armie Hammer was to sport as Batman in George Miller’s “Justice League Mortal” project which failed to coalesce over a decade ago.
