Ncuti Gatwa will reportedly begin filming his first full season of “Doctor Who” from this November.
The Scottish-Rwandan actor takes on the mantle of the fourteenth incarnation of The Doctor for what will be the show’s fourteenth season since its revival in 2005.
In May, Gatwa was announced as taking over the role of the eponymous Time Lord from actress Jodie Whittaker. Her last adventure will hit screens as a special episode this October as part of the BBC Centenary celebrations.
At least one more already shot special episode will be broadcast in 2023 to mark the 60th anniversary of the franchise. Actors David Tennant and Catherine Tate reprise their roles of the tenth incarnation of The Doctor and his companion Donna Noble respectively and are joined by Neil Patrick Harris.
Russell T. Davies returns as showrunner for both that episode and Gatwa’s new run, which likely won’t go to air until 2024.
Gatwa is currently at work reprising his role of Eric in the fourth season of Netflix’s “Sex Education” which is in production. He’ll also appear in the much-hyped “Barbie” movie next year.
