Nearly twenty years after she last played the role, Jennifer Garner is picking up the sais once again to play Marvel Comics assassin antiheroine Elektra for the upcoming “Deadpool 3” at Marvel Studios.
THR broke the story about Garner’s return to the role which she played first in 2003’s “Daredevil” alongside Ben Affleck and Colin Farrell, and later in her own film in 2005 – one of the few women to lead a studio comic book movie at the time.
Her involvement in “Deadpool 3” ties to strong talk of some sort of multiverse element to the film, with past characters from Marvel films made at Fox potentially showing up.
We know Ryan Reynolds is reprising the eponymous role of the red and black-suited Merc with a Mouth, whilst Hugh Jackman has come out of Marvel retirement to play Wolverine again.
Garner, who first broke out as secret agent Sydney Bristow in ABC’s “Alias,” recently worked with her “Deadpool 3” co-star Reynolds and the film’s director Shawn Levy in the sci-fi adventure “The Adam Project”.
She most recently starred in and executive produced Apple TV+’s limited series “The Last Thing He Told Me” which debuted in April. Filming on the third “Deadpool” is currently underway in the UK.
