The Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 showcase teased some of the biggest game releases of the Fall, with new trailers showing off gameplay from some key titles all coming in the next few months.
First up, Bethesda Softworks released a live-action trailer for its “Starfield” game set to an orchestral version of Elton John’s “Rocket Man”. The trailer showcases a man’s journey to the stars.
Remedy offered a new trailer for the highly-anticipated “Alan Wake II” with the first real gameplay involving Alan himself. Along with looks at the nightmarish The Dark Place, the game will incorporate live-action footage integrated into gameplay.
Warner Bros. Games released a nearly four-minute ‘Official Rulers of Outworld’ trailer for the upcoming “Mortal Kombat 1” filled with a good look at the game’s story, a bunch of fatalaties and more.
Ubisoft released a new “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” trailer which puts the focus on the immersion of this Baghdad-set title and explores how detailed the city is. All the dialogue is in Arabic, with some stunning vistas showcased in what’s dubbed a return to old-school style “Assassin’s Creed” gaming.
CD Projekt Red offered a new trailer for “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty,” the expansion overhauling the way the game is played – especially vehicle combat as players will be able to shoot guns while driving, use mounted weapons and rockets, and remotely take control of other vehicles.
Finally, Activision released a lengthy, near 10-minute clip from the campaign for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” as you try and break into the Zordaya Prison Complex.
“Starfield” arrives on September 6th, “Mortal Kombat 1” hits September 14th, “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty” hits September 26th, “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” releases October 5th, “Alan Wake II” arrives on October 27th, and “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III” hits November 10th.
