Gaga, MGM Set For Ridley Scott’s “Gucci”

MGM is set to acquire Ridley Scott’s long in the works true crime drama “Gucci” about the murder of fashion trailblazer Maurizio Gucci, grandson of Guccio Gucci.

In addition, negotiations are underway for Lady Gaga to star in the film about the machinations behind the fabled fashion house. She would play Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio’s ex-wife who was convicted of orchestrating his hit after he had an affair.

Roberto Bentivegna penned the script based on Sara Gay Forden’s 2001 novel “The House of Gucci” which covered not just the murder but the infighting, corporate intrigue and ridiculous wealth of the family behind the label.

MGM beat out Netflix and others for the film, in part because it offered the opportunity for a theatrical release which was key for Scott who will work on this once he wraps the remainder of “The Last Duel” shoot. They have already set a November 24th 2021 release date.

The film arrives in the wake of Scott’s 2017 film “All the Money in the World” which followed another famously rich dynasty, the Getty family.
