Fuqua Talks “Terminal List” Prequel Status

Amazon Prime Video

Following its release, Prime Video announced plans to expand its Chris Pratt-led “The Terminal List” TV series with both a second season renewal and an untitled prequel series focusing on Taylor Kitsch’s character Ben Edwards.

The latter series, which hails from author Jack Carr and creator-showrunner David DiGilio, will see several characters created by Carr popping up in the narrative – including South African former SEAL Raife Hastings, Mohammed Farooq, and the returning Ernest ‘Boozer’ Vickers.

Kitsch’s Ben will lead the run, with Pratt’s James Reece appearing in a supporting role. The espionage thriller follows Edwards’ journey from Navy SEAL to CIA paramilitary operator – and explores the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.

One of the core people involved is filmmaker Antoine Fuqua, an executive producer and director who helmed the pilot episode of the series and is returning for the new run. Out doing press for “The Equalizer 3,” Fuqua explained to Collider his involvement in the new episodes to come:

“We were heavily involved for the prequel until the strike. Absolutely. I’m deeply involved. I love that franchise. […] If I’m available, I definitely will [direct]. Yeah, I absolutely will. I enjoy ‘The Terminal List,’ I love it. Oh, yeah. I love it, man. That’s what I wanna do is I’ll direct probably one or two that Chris is in, you know, because it’s the prequel with Taylor [Kitsch] as well.”

Kitsch, Pratt, Carr, Shaw, Fuqua and Max Adams are all executive producing the prequel. From the sounds of it, the prequel will come before a potential second season. Previously it was confirmed the second season will be based on the second book in Carr’s James Reece series titled “True Believer”.

That book had Reece, now living in the wilds of Mozambique, forcefully recruited by the CIA to travel the globe and target terrorist leaders, all whilst unravelling a geopolitical conspiracy.
