Fuller Talks “Hannibal” Season 4 Chances

NBC

Ten years on, the chances of getting a proper fourth season of “Hannibal” have seemed slim to none for a while now – but that hasn’t stopped series creator/showrunner Bryan Fuller.

Out promoting his new film “Dust Bunny” at the Toronto Film Festival, one which sees him re-teaming with “Hannibal” star Mads Mikkelsen, Fuller says any chance of a return is currently stalled due to ongoing rights issues.

Part of the issue is that producer Martha De Laurentiis, who passed away in late 2021, owned some of the rights and sorting that out comes first.

Nonetheless, all those involved in the series sound keen to bring it back. He tells ScreenRant:

“It’s complicated now because Martha De Laurentiis died and she had a certain section of the rights, and now, Thomas Harris is trying to get the rights all under one umbrella. And I think that’s going to take a couple of years of straightening out.

But the entire cast wants to come back: Mads [Mikkelsen], Hugh [Dancy], Laurence [Fishburne], Katie [Isabelle], Caroline [Dhavernas] – like everybody’s in. It’s just a matter of: Will the rights be able to be figured out again?”

No networks or streaming services have announced any deals to host. As previously indicated, the series has pretty much tackled everything it can with the Harris novels that doesn’t involve the Clarice Starling character.

Fuller revealed the other day his dreamcasting would be Zendaya in the role of Starling.
