20th Century Studios has released the full-length trailer for the highly anticipated “The Devil Wears Prada 2”.
The trailer follows on from a teaser back in November that became the second biggest trailer launch of last year with 185 million views.
Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are all returning and are joined by Kenneth Branagh as the husband of Streep’s Miranda Priestly – the demanding editor-in-chief of Runway magazine.
Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, Pauline Chalamet, Tracie Thoms, Tibor Feldman, B.J. Novak, and Conrad Ricamora also star.
The original 2009 film is based on the 2004 roman à clef novel by Lauren Weisberger, an assistant to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. It followed an aspiring journalist, Andy Sachs (Hathaway), who is hired at a glossy fashion magazine but finds herself at the mercy of her demanding editor-in-chief, Miranda Presley.
The sequel is expected to follow Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. Blunt will reprise her role of Miranda’s former assistant, who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with ad dollars that Priestly needs.
David Frankel directs the new film, which opens May 1st.
