HBO has premiered the full trailer for the Alicia Vikander-led dark comedy series “Irma Vep” – French filmmaker Olivier Assayas’ limited series remake of his own 1996 Maggie Cheung-led feature.
The story will center around an American movie star named Mira (Vikander) who is disillusioned by her career and a recent breakup.
She moves to France to star as Irma Vep in a remake of the French silent film classic “Les Vampires” and soon struggles as the distinctions between herself and the character she plays begin to blur and merge.
She also has to deal with an unstable director (Vincent Macaigne) struggling to keep the production from falling apart. Jeanne Balibar, Vincent Lacoste, Jerrod Carmichael, Carrie Brownstein, Fala Chen, Lars Eidinger, Hippolyte Girardot, and Alex Descas also star with Kristen Stewart also making an appearance.
The series, a co-production with A24, is executive produced by Assayas, Vikander, Sam Levinson, Kevin Turen, Ashley Levinson and Stuart Manashil. The series arrives on HBO on June 6th.
