Having just premiered during this year’s Oscars broadcast, Disney Pictures has released the new full trailer for the live-action adaptation of its 1989 animated classic “The Little Mermaid”. In addition the new poster for the film is also out.
The new clip shows off a first look at Javier Bardem as Ariel’s father, Melissa McCarthy as the octopus witch Ursula, Sebastian the Crab and plenty of glimpses of Halle Bailey’s eponymous mermaid swimming around.
Rob Marshall helms the film about Ariel (Halle Bailey), a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King).
While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
The cast also includes Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, Awkwafina as the voice of Scuttle, Art Malik Sir Grimsby, Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina and Javier Bardem as King Triton.
The live-action “The Little Mermaid” is scheduled to score a wide release in cinemas on May 26th.
