Netflix has released the second trailer for “Extraction 2,” the follow-up to its Chris Hemsworth-led action thriller which arrived in April 2020 and became one of the biggest streaming hits of the pandemic.
In the sequel, Hemsworth will reprise his role of Australian black-ops mercenary Tyler Rake who somehow survived the end of the first film and off on his next mission.
Here he’s tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, whilst Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili co-star. Also back is director Sam Hargrave with Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO producing and Joe Russo writing.
Like the first film, this will feature some long-take action sequences, including a major 21-minute single take ‘oner’ which will see a major prison riot/fight and escape sequence that involves actually setting Hemsworth on fire multiple times to film.
There’s also a major snowy train sequence amongst the other action. Hemsworth, the Russos, Mike Larocca, Patrick Newall and Sam Hargrave all produce the film which has its premiere on the Netflix streaming service on June 16th.
