“Wonder Woman” and “Argylle” scribe Jason Fuchs has been set to write the live-action feature film adaptation of the of the best-selling manga series “My Hero Academia” at Netflix and Legendary.
The story is set in a world where most of the population has ‘quirks,’ also known as superpowers, and tells of a non-powered fanboy who wants nothing more than to be a superhero.
When the world’s greatest hero sees his potential and gifts him powers, the teenager enrolls in a school for superheroes.
The series launched in 2014 in weekly comic magazine Shonen Jump and its popularity quickly led to an anime series, anime movies and merchandise. It’s already one of the best selling mangas of all time.
Filmmaker Shinsuke Sato (“Bleach,” “Kingdom”) remains attached to direct the feature.
Fuchs also serves as co-creator, co-showrunner and executive producer of HBO Max’s “IT: Welcome to Derry” series launching next month.
