HBO Max has announced that they are taping a “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” reunion special with Will Smith and the surviving cast to reunite for the series thirty years after its debut on NBC.
Series regulars Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Alfonso Ribeiro, along with DJ Jazzy Jeff will join Smith in the special which also features music, dancing and some surprise guests.
Marcus Raboy will direct the reunion special which is scheduled to tape on September 10th and launch around Thanksgiving on HBO Max. The streamer is currently the exclusive SVOD home of the show which ran from 1990-96.
Smith’s Westbrook Media label recently signed on to executive produce “Bel-Air,” a dramatic reimagining of the series based on a viral trailer made by fan Morgan Cooper. That project is currently being shopped to streamers.
