A sequel to 2003’s “Freaky Friday” remake is looking more and more likely by the day.
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan starred in the original as a mother and daughter whose bodies are switched. The film reportedly made more than $160 million on a $26 million budget.
Previously, both Lohan and Curtis have expressed interest in doing a follow-up. Lohan also recently returned to acting with a starring role in the Netflix holiday movie “Falling for Christmas”.
Appearing last night at the Los Angeles premiere of “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” Curtis says that movement is happening, and it’s looking like more of a possibility. She tells Variety:
“There is no scheduled date, but we’re talking. People are talking. The right people are talking. I’m 64 in a week, and Lindsay is 36…[A sequel] lends itself so beautifully. We’re both committed to it, and it’s not ours to make. It’s Disney’s to make, and I think they’re interested, and we’re talking.”
Curtis added she and Lohan discussed their possible big-screen reunion last Sunday. Amusingly she was asked if, like “Halloween,” the return could involve multiple installments. She responded: “Let’s just try to get another one made. We’re a ways away.”
