The upcoming revival of “Frasier” for the Paramount+ service won’t include many of the original cast members as it shifts the show’s setting to a new city where Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) is starting a new phase of his life.
One obvious non-returnee is John Mahoney, who played Frasier’s father Martin Crane. Mahoney died in 2018 and Grammer tells Fox News Digital that the new series will pay him the proper respect:
“His loss is and was devastating and must be given the proper attention in honor of the extraordinary man he was and the contribution he made to the show and to the acting profession.
We will most certainly be honoring him according to his merit. A man of merit he remains to this day. John was a kind man, and the world cannot afford to lose a kind man at any time.”
Chris Harris (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Joe Cristalli (“Life in Pieces”) create and executive produces the sequel series which is dubbed “Frasier in his third or fourth act”.
