Netflix has released the trailer for “Cursed,” Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler’s upcoming fantasy series which reimagines the classic Arthurian tale as told through the eyes of Nimue, the fabled Lady of the Lake.
The project is based on a book by Wheeler and Miller which imagines Nimue as a young women tormented for her magical gifts who becomes destined to wield the sword of legend Excalibur, save the people of her land, and become a piece of the story many think they know.
In this version Arthur is a humble mercenary on a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther.
Full of a lot of “300”-style slo-mo, the ten episode first season has Katherine Langford (“13 Reasons Why”) leading the cast which also includes Devon Terrell as Arthur, Gustaf Skarsgard as Merlin, Sebastian Armesto as King Uther, Matt Stokoe as Gawain and Daniel Sharman.
“Cursed” premieres July 17th.
