Having recently played Beat Generation poet Allen Ginsberg in “Howl”, James Franco has reportedly begun pre-production on his next directorial effort, an adaptation of Paul L Mariani’s biography of American poet Hart Crane entitled “The Broken Tower” reports Showbiz 411.
Crane, whose father invented Life Savers candy, famously committed suicide by jumping off a steamship in 1932. Michael Shannon has been mentioned as a potential cast member.
Franco adapted the script and will direct the project which will film all around the New York area. Shooting is slated to kick off early next month.
