In the wake of Gore Verbinski’s departure from the “Gambit” film earlier today, 20th Century Fox has done some massive shifting of its entire release slate of “X-Men” movies.
The good news is “Deadpool 2” is being moved up by two weeks and will now open May 18th, just one week before “Solo: A Star Wars Story”.
The real shock though is that “The New Mutants,” Josh Boone’s horror-themed take on Marvel’s teen heroes, has been delayed ten months. Originally slated for April 13th, it will now hit February 22nd 2019.
“Gambit” meanwhile, which was slated for a February 14th 2019 opening, will now hit June 7th 2019 assuming it finds a director soon that it doesn’t lose.
The release of “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” remains unchanged.
