FOX Sets A Reimagining Of “Bewitched”

ABC

FOX has announced plans to reboot the classic ABC 1960s fantasy sitcom “Bewitched”,

The project is described as an ‘hourlong reimagining’ of the original and hails from writer and executive producer Judalina Neira (“The Boys,” “Daisy Jones and the Six”). Said to boast a ‘heartfelt’ tone, an official synopsis has been released:

“Though they come from two wildly different worlds – he’s a human, she’s a witch – for Samantha and Darrin, it’s love at first sight. But in order to be together, they’ll have to navigate their disapproving parents, walk a tightrope of cultural clashes, and bridge the divides between their families and worlds.”

The original premiered in 1964 and ran for eight seasons and over 250 episodes before ending in 1972. Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York and Dick Sargent starred along with a host of colourful supporting characters.

The series is often cited as one of the greatest comedies of its era. In 2005, Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell led a film spin on the property, which reimagined it as a meta comedy about Hollywood reboots.

Famous Last Words Production is producing the project for Sony Television and FOX.
